INSTRUCTIONS for INVITED SPEAKERS, CONTRIBUTORS, CHAIRS and MODERATORS
ELECTRICITY and INTERNET ACCESS
- Electricity
- Electricity at the conference site is AC 100 volts 50 Hz.
- For domestic participants giving a presentation in Interactive Sessions, it is advisable to have one power extension cord.
- Network
- Partly because of the acceptable use policy of the university network administration and partly because of necessary paperwork involved, we cannot offer you Internet access from within the conference rooms.
- Please prepare your presentation or demonstration in such a way that it works without network access.
INSTRUCTION for CONTRIBUTORS in ORAL SESSIONS
-
Please come to the main conference room 10 minutes before your session starts, rather than 1 minute before your presentation is scheduled to begin.
-
Start your machines and make sure they work properly. Take turns when checking to see if the projector works with your PC.
-
Let your chair know you are there.
-
Wait for your presentation to begin.
-
You have 20 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for discussion.
-
You are expected to bring in your own PC.
-
We will have one PC-compatible projector and D-sub 5 connector cable.
INSTRUCTION for CONTRIBUTORS in INTERACTIVE SESSIONS
-
Interactive Presentations will be given in the lobby area outside the main conference room (#1) on the third floor of the International Conference Center.
-
Please come and prepare for your presentation during lunch (12:00-13:00 on the first day and 12:15-13:15 on the second day).
-
We cannot be responsible for any stolen items. Leaving valuable machines unattended is not recommended. If your presentation involves machines, get your things ready immediately before the interactive session begins rather than early on.
-
You can start your presentation whenever you are ready and there is enough audience. However, we recommend that you take lunch before you start, especially if you intend to attend the afternoon Oral Sessions.
-
You can stop and take a rest whenever you feel like it. You can visit other presentations in your session, if you'd like to. Don't feel compelled you have to keep talking all through your session.
-
You can end whenever you feel appropriate. You must end before the afternoon Oral Session begins. (14:30 on the first day and 14:45 on the second day.)
-
We will provide you each with a panel of 120cm by 180cm for posters (posting area would be slightly smaller than 120cm by 120cm) and a desk space for those of you who intend to show demos or slide shows. We will be able to supply you with standard electricity outlet for notebook PCs but we cannot provide you with any network access.
INSTRUCTION for INVITED SPEAKERS
-
Please come to the conference room 5 minutes before your talk.
-
Let your moderator know you are there.
-
Wait for your session to begin.
-
You have 60 minutes for your Invited Talk. Please consult with your moderator how to allocate this 60 minutes.
INSTRUCTION for CHAIRS and MODERATORS
-
Please come to the conference room 5 minutes before your session.
-
Let your contributors or your Invited Speaker know you are there.
-
Wait for your session to begin.
-
In Oral sessions, each contribution will consist of a 20-minute presentation followed by a 10-minute period for discussion. This is more of a guideline rather than a strict rule and you can be flexible in how to allocate the 30 minutes assigned for each speaker. However, keep the 30 minute allocation for each speaker rigorously to be fair.
-
You have 60 minutes for an Invited Talk. Please consult with the Invited Speaker how to allocate this 60 minutes.
